Shrimp Boil

Sometimes simple dishes are the most delicious! Shrimp Boil can seem daunting, but is one of the easiest dishes to make and is a party in a pot! Perfectly spiced, creamy potatoes, crisp corn and juicy shrimp. Make your weeknight special! This recipe was adapted from Southern Living Magazine.

Ingredients

  • 1 (1.5-ounce) bag seafood boil seasoning (Zatarains is my preference)

  • 1 1/2 tablespoon Diamond Crystal Kosher salt (If using Mortons Kosher salt, use 1 tablespoon)

  • 1/2 tablespoon cajun/creole seasoning (optional)

  • 3 bay leaves

  • 2 lemons, halved

  • 2 onions, quartered

  • 2 garlic bulbs, halved

  • 1 pound small red potatoes

  • 4 ears fresh corn, husks removed and halved

  • 1 pound smoked sausage, cut into 1-inch diagonal slices

  • 2 pounds large shrimp, deveined, tail on

  • 4 eggs

  • Lemon wedges, melted butter, and Old Bay seasoning (optional)

Preparation

  • Bring 4 quarts water and first 8 ingredients to a boil in a 12-quart stockpot. Add potatoes; simmer 15 minutes. Add corn and sausage; simmer 8 minutes. Add shrimp and eggs, cover, and turn off heat. Let shrimp sit 10 to 15 minutes to absorb flavor.

  • Next, drain liquid, and spread shrimp boil out on a newspaper-covered or paper bag on table. Serve with lemon wedges, melted butter, and Old Bay seasoning (optional).
